 WHAT'S GOING ON... Minimize

    NO 'PIZZA' FEB. 15.  Our weekly Bible study, "Pizza with Pastor"—will NOT meet  on Wed., Feb. 15. We will resume "Pizza" on Feb. 29. However, join Hobson for:

    ASH WEDNESDAY WORSHIP ON FEB. 22. The Holy Season of Lent starts with a special worship service at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 22, in Hobson's sanctuary. Lent, observed by Christians around the world, is the period of reflection, prayer and fasting leading up to Easter (April 8), and reflects Jesus' 40-day wilderness experience. Watch this website and attend worship to discover the meaning of Lent for your faith journey.

   FEBRUARY IS BLACK HISTORY MONTH. Pastor Dixon and the Hobson family are celebrating by using prayers and worship resources from the African/African-American tradition all month during our weekly worship celebration. Join us each week during this month to experience God in new ways through this special observance.  

    ROOM IN THE INN, Hobson's ministry of support for and with homeless men, is held each Sunday night at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall. We host 8 to 10 men each Sunday from now through March, for dinner, community and TV football. Volunteers are needed to cook dinner, make sack lunches, spend the night with our guests, and provide breakfast. Contact Pastor Dixon to volunteer.

     
      GET YOURSELF A PRAYER PARTNER. Several members of our community have connected with one another for the purpose of praying for and with each other and just checking in. There is nothing like having a prayer warrior in your corner—and being a prayer warrior for someone else. Believe me, your faith will be strengthened. If you would like to be matched with a prayer partners, see Pastor Dixon or Christian education coordinator Sonja Dixon-Beasley.

Who We Hope to Be
   Welcome to our website! Hobson Church, located in historic East Nashville (Tenn.) is community of Christian believers and seekers in an intentionally diverse, reconciling and including congregation. Our denominational tradition is United Methodist. We seek to engage and empower everyone regardless of age, family/marital status, race/ethnicity, economic circumstance, sexual orientation, gender identity, ability or limitation.
    By following the example of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we work to be place where  ALL persons feel a part of our family, so that they may grow in their faith, be nourished by the relevant, all-people-loving Word of God and our community, and are then empowered to contribute their talents and gifts to the life and witness of the church through worship, prayer, programs and outreach.
    You're invited to join us for our weekly Service of Holy Communion at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday and for a meal and Bible Study—which we call "Pizza with the Pastor"—Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m.
 
 
Our Spiritual Shepherd & Leadership Team
    Hobson's lead pastor is the Rev. V.H. ("Sonnye") Dixon, right, a Christian liberation theologian and known advocate for people who  ignored, oppressed, pushed-aside, or excluded in church and society.
    Pastor Dixon may be reached at our church office, 615.228.7334. In addition, Hobson is blessed to have a team of other clergy colleagues who believe in the ministry of Hobson and who are part of our pastoral family.
    Our Prayer Leadership Team comprises senior servants at Hobson who coordinate the community's nurture, outreach, witness and administration. They are:

    •Transportation Ministry—Ron Taylor.
    •Music Ministry and Women's Choir—Linda Furtado.
    •Building and Grounds/Trustees—M. Garlinda Burton.
    •Room in the Inn/Homeless Ministries—Pastor Sonnye Dixon.
    •Nurture and Membership Care—Gaines Mann.
    •Financial Accountability and Donations—Jim Milliken.
